Are We Living In the Matrix?

Introducing Emergence Theory.

Schrödinger, Heisenburg, Einstein; these exemplary scientific minds spent their lives attempting to make sense of our reality. From the theory of general relativity to quantum theory and the uncertainty principle, these great physicists helped give humanity some insight into the nature of our existence. Though they could not have imagined the digital world that we live in now, their discoveries allowed for technological advances that are ubiquitous today. Carrying on the quest for explaining the self-determining nature of our universe is the Quantum Gravity Research Group, a consortium of scientists based in Los Angeles. The group’s emergence theory provides new insights into the nature of our universe, but departs from the assumption that the world is smooth and instead proposes a more pixelated reality, much like the digital milieu we find ourselves immersed in.

Emergence theory proposes that the entire universe is made up of extremely tiny, tightly packed, multi-dimensional equilateral triangles. These tetrahedron group together in very specific mathematical configurations to form an 8-dimensional crystal called an E8 polytope. The crystals form a lattice that makes up all matter and energy; this was discovered using empirical data points relating to the golden ratio. Beyond even string theory, this E8 polytope is the only invariant object that unifies everything in our reality, including all of the fundamental particles and gravitational forces in the universe.

What really makes the emergence theory compelling is how our consciousness is tied to everything else. Consciousness is self-organizing, along with other phenomena like solar systems, the weather, and crystals. All systems are in dissonance and/or resonance with every other system. These systems feed and interact with each other in feedback loops. It was American physicist Frank Wilzcek who identified that all the fundamental building blocks of the universe require an observer to be considered part of reality.. This means all consciousness in the universe is required for anything to even exist! Wilzek also proposed the existence of time crystals, which are related to emergence theory.

All of this may seem rather complex for the average layperson. Luckily, the Quantum Gravity Research Group has produced several videos for those of us who are curious to learn more about their work. The most accessible introduction to the theory is within the above YouTube video titled “What is Reality?” Be on the lookout for more profound discoveries from these pioneers in physics as they seek to unravel the mysteries of the universe and reveal whether we are truly “living in the matrix.”
